Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands, John Crabtree OBE, has formally appointed Lawrence Barton to be a Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands.
As a Deputy Lieutenant Lawrence Barton will support the Lord-Lieutenant in his role as the Queen's regional representative. He will help to promote a spirit of co-operation and good atmosphere by supporting voluntary and benevolent organisations as well as the broader business and social life of the region.
Commenting on his appointment, Lawrence Barton said: "During these unprecedented and difficult times our sense of community is more important than ever. The West Midlands is my home and I am passionate about the people who live here. To be appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for the region I grew up in is a great honour and something I am immensely proud of. I look forward to supporting the West Midlands Lieutenancy in the valuable work it does."
